Electric car travel cost calculator

Before your trip, calculate how much it will cost to travel by electric car and see how much you'll pay to charge it. Compare the cost with other modes of transportation and choose the one that's best for you.

Enter the distance you plan to travel. Your vehicle's energy consumption also influences the total cost. Enter your average energy consumption per 100 km in kilowatts. The final parameter is the average price per kilowatt-hour (kWh) at the charging station.

The cost of charging an EV car

The total cost of using an electric car is greatly influenced by how we charge it.

Charging with mains electricity, whether from a home socket or a wallbox, has a lower cost per kilowatt-hour (kWh) because you're using the same tariff as your home electricity. You can reduce the cost even further by charging your car using your own electricity from photovoltaic panels or stored in a battery.

Using public chargers is significantly more expensive, but charging is usually faster. For longer journeys, charging at public chargers is unavoidable. However, it's worth covering as much of your route as possible using a cheaper electricity rate.
